JMD immortalise Mick Schumacher's special helmet

08.12.2019

Mick Schumacher's iconic split-design helmet has been immortalised by Jens Munser Design (JMD) with a limited edition 3D-artwork released to commemorate the day he drove his father's Benetton B194.

On that occasion, the son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher had the privilege of doing demo laps at Spa-Francorchamps in the car that his father used in his first F1 World Championship-winning campaign in 1994.

The helmet worn by Mick for the occasion was made especially for the event by JMD. The design is split in half with Mick's 2017 Formula 3 design on the right-side and Michael's design from 1994 on the left.

On the day, Mick, his family and F1 fans in general were touched by the poignant occasion at the legendary venue where Schumie senior made his Grand Prix debut in 1991 and then a year later scored his first of 91 F1 victories.

The magnitude of the 'back-to-the-future' moment did not escape 20-year-old Mick who recalled, "It was an absolute pleasure to drive the B194 here at Spa. I was so happy while driving. It was emotional. There is a lot of history here and a lot of it revolves around my father's career."

An image of Mick's magic moment that day was captured and 250 limited-edition high-quality prints, with 3D parts attached, depicting the helmet worn on the day by Mick were produced. Each 3D-stye work of art is presented in a high-quality 4cm thick aluminium, museum-quality frame, under anti-reflective glass.

Each is a unique art-piece and delivered with a certificate of authenticity signed by Jens Munser Designs.

JMD creates 500 to 600 helmet designs per year thanks to a team of dedicated and passionate specialists who work together to not only conceptualise and paint drivers' helmets but also hand-make replicas and miniature versions of these.

Drivers who have used JMD services is a list of who-is-who in motor racing including the likes of: Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, Max Verstappen, Nico Hülkenberg, Daniel Ricciardo, Esteban Ocon, Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Rubens Barrichello, Sergey Sirotkin, Carlos Sainz, Adrian Sutil, Daniil Kvyat and Kevin Magnussen.
