Eleven Sports wearing Paddock Legends gear during Formula 1 testing coverage

Editor22.02.2020

The Formula 1 world came alive this past week as teams fired up their new cars for preseason testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with teams beginning their 2020 campaigns, at the same time the paddock was buzzing with new developments and partnerships forged during the winter break.

MBA-Sport CEO Markus Schell visited Montmelo to touch base with partners and associates ahead of a new season in which new and exciting plans for Paddock Legends are being formulated for the year ahead.

Covering all the testing, with behind-the-scenes access coupled to expert analysis and commentary, were the Eleven Sports TV team reporting live from the venue.

Notably, the crew and commentators were clothed in Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher wear available online through Paddock Legends, at select Grand Prix weekend as well as select stores and special events.

Schell took time to chat to the Eleven Sports crew and said afterwards, "It's a privilege to be associated with Eleven Sports, particularly their F1 news team who have a great name and following in Portugal.

"We were happy to supply them with Senna and Schumi gear for their time in Barcelona, which also happened to be cold so I am glad we could help keep them warm," Schell added with a smile.

Commentator Óscar Góis reported, "It really created a buzz on social media when viewers saw us wearing the gear, many wanting to know where it was from. The response was quite amazing. I felt like an influencer!"

When covering F1 on such a massive platform, neutrality is vital for fans to respect the Eleven Sports team doing the coverage. Thus wearing clothing or merchandise from current teams or current drivers would be perceived as impartial.

But Góis explained, "With Schumi and Ayrton they are beyond teams, and their appeal universal rather than specific to one brand or a specific team."

Schell added, "Exposure on Eleven Sports fits into our ethos of promoting and keeping alive the icons of our sport, not only through merchandise sales but also backed with committed programme to promote those who have a legacy in motorsport, with tales worth recalling which we do on Paddock Legends."

In 2020, fans will be able to purchase iconic merchandise from our Paddock Legends store in the Fanzone during Grand Prix weekends, pop-up stores at select racing related events as well as our online network of shops: Ayrton Senna Shop, Michael Schumacher Shop and Paddock Legends.

Coming up, mmotorsport aficionados attending two prestige historic car shows - the Retro Classics car show in Stuttgart from 27 February until 1 March and the Techno-Classica Essen from 25 to 29 March 2020 - will have the opportunity to get up close to the Paddock Legends owned official Lotus 99T showcar which legend Ayrton Senna drove used in his 1987 Formula 1 World Championship campaign.
