McLaren and the F1™ story
The McLaren Formula 1 Team was founded in 1966 by Bruce McLaren, who was still racing in Formula 1 at that time. He first won an F1 race at the age of 22 in 1959 as the youngest F1 winner to date. To this day the racing team still exists in F1 and is the most successful team in the history of the premier class after Ferrari.
The team was very successful especially in the eighties and nineties while drivers like Niki Lauda and Alaine Prost, later with Ayrton Senna for the team in the McLaren on the race track. Together with engine manufacturer Honda, the team dominated Formula 1 and won seven of the twelve drivers' World Championship titles.
Today, McLaren is back on the road to success and with its drivers Landon Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr. a strong racing duo and a competitive opponent in the midfield of the current F1 season.
