Gulf - the cult brand in blue and orange
The iconic pale blue and orange colours are famous for the Gulf Racing Team. They have adorned some of the finest race cars in the history of the sport.
In the sixties, a deal was struck between the Gulf Oil Company and motorsport engineer and race director Johny Wyer, whereby the JW Automotive Engineering programme was launched to turn the now legendary Ford GT 40 into a race winning car.
In 1967, the GT40 was developed, reworked into a potent machine and the Gulf Racing livery we know so well now, broke cover. The pale blue cars, with orange Gulf insignia in a circle, were driven by great drivers such as Jacky Ickx, Jackie Oliver, Pedro Rodriguez, David Hobbs, Helmut Marko and Lucien Bianchi. A team of superstars that simply racked up the wins relentlessly.
In 1970 Porsche launched its own racing program spearheaded by the legendary Porsche 917, branded in the official Gulf colours. Lap records were felled by the Gulf cars, and of course victories were numerous.
Our product range captures the spirit of sportscar endurance racing in its heyday, the unmistakable colours conjuring up images of Steve McQueen's Michael Delaney in the cult film Le Mans which our prodcuts, some of which are strictly limited, honour and celebrate.
