Porsche racing chronicle / Motorsport since 1951
by Michael Behrndt
It can no longer be counted exactly, but more than 30,000 race victories in over 60 years secure Porsche a world championship title of a special kind. 16 overall victories at Le Mans, three Formula 1 World Championship titles with the TAG turbo engine, legendary CanAm triumphs and countless other endurance, circuit, hillclimb and rally successes surpass any statistics.
Now, for the first time, the most important victories and the complete history of the Zuffenhausen team's motorsport involvement are listed here - year by year, with countless rare photos, numerous driver biographies and the technical data of the most important cars. There is also a statistics section, organised by category.
No other manufacturer is as committed, present and successful as Porsche. Go on a journey of discovery through six decades of racing with the Porsche crest - from the first show race with the Porsche number 1 in Innsbruck in 1948 to the current involvement in the WEC World Endurance Championship and the goal: 17th victory at Le Mans.
