Making history like father, like son

Michele Lupini27.01.2020

Mick Schumacher driving his father Michael's Ferrari F2004 during a demo run ahead of the 2019 German Grand Prix has been ranked as among Laureus' ten biggest sporting moments of the past 20 years

A fact that is likely to boost the youngster’s hopes ahead of his second Formula 2 season this year as it will put him under pressure to deliver positive ressults.

Seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher’s status has remained secret since he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a skiing accident in December 2013 and while race fans at home in Germany and around the world continue to celebrate Michael’s incredible racing achievements, driving his father’s race car has now also focused attention on son Mick’s fledgeling career as he follows in his father’s footsteps.

Many believe that 20-year-old Mick is on course to continue the incredible Schumi Formula 1 dynasty — of course uncle Ralf was also a multiple grand prix winner in his career, but Mick’s next point of business is mastering his second season in Formula 2.

Mick is already a racing champion with the illustrious 2018 FIA European Formula 3 title under his belt and he indeed won a Formula 2 race at Hockenheim in his rookie season last year

The youngster certainly has quite a bit to live up to as he looks to emulate his father's incredible journey in F1 and carve his own legacy. (Photo courtesy Ferrari)
